Hi everyone. Just letting you know we are OK here in Toowoomba. Many friends have water damage but  there could have been more loss of life if not for some very brave rescues!  All my bears have dry feet :)

Hi Wendy

I'm so glad you are safe and dry. Plus all the bears have dry paws.

I have done nothing but think of you all up there in that awful flood.

I do hope all other bear makers are safe as well.

Lesley (Les Bears) told me she is Ok too. She lives up on a range on the Sunshine Coast! I  now hope all my friends in Brisbane and Ipswich are OK.  Toowoomba is so quiet. Everyone is in shock because we JUST DON'T FLOOD. We have two little creeks running through and where they met  in the CBD it just backed up. Bridges washed away and few streets open to get from one side of town to the other.

We are running out of food, drinking water, you cannot but milk or bread anywhere.

Hey Guys,

We have been watching the news reports in disbelief as I am sure so has the rest of the country, it's just so hard to comprehend. My heart goes out to everyone, let's hope the worst is over. Glad to hear some of our bear family are OK and  fingers crossed the rest are also. It seems so sureal to hear you guys say you are running out of food and lining up for bread and milk these are situations from other countries we all watch on TV ,not here. Mother Nature is certainly a powerful force.

Sending you all Hugs and positive thoughts that things will improve soon.

Lyn

hi all

As Wendy reported we are safe but the devastation and clean up is going to be massive. We made it back to Maleny on Monday night from our trip to Sydney. We were lucky we decided not to stay in Brisbane. Even though Maleny  had had huge rainfall - 550mm in 3 days - our property was fine.

My friends daughter lives at Ipswich and some place is charging $10 for a loaf of bread. That is absolutely obscene!!

For anyone who wants to help out financially you can support http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html

Cheers Lesley

Thank you so much for posting these. It seems I can only send a cheque as an int' donor (was expecting PayPal) I will go in to town tomorrow first ...I feel sure the building society will have a donation process. I just feel I need to help if only in a tiny way :(

Was also shocked to see the film of Brazil's floods last night. A woman being rescued had her little dog swept from her arms. It broke my heart.

Let us know when your supplies improve won't you ...

Russ wants me to tell you girls that Coles loaded 31 containers of supplies for the rail last night and the Linfox boys are on their way to Qld to deliver it all when it arrives.  Help is on its way! :)

So glad to hear that our bear friends have been spared from these dreadful floods.  Those of us in the southern parts of Australia have just been heartbroken to see the devastation that Queensland and New South Wales have been going through.  I can't even imagine the horror of it all.  The stories of amazing bravery have been just wonderful, but then when you hear of someone cashing in and charging $10 for a loaf of bread - you just can't understand them.  Adversity can bring out the best in people, and for a minority, the worst.  Let's hope the food supplies can get back to normal soon and the massive cleanup can begin.  From what I have seen on the news services, the people of Queensland have been so brave and have the most positive outlook for the future.  That's the best of the Aussie spirit shining through.

That's good to hear.. our local IGA is quite well stocked except for fruit and veg - not so good for a vegetarian - I did manage to get a bag of apples, a cucumber and an eggplant. Mmmm... sounds like a yummy dish coming up!! Thank good ness for Mr.Heinz's baked beans. Seriously - I do have enough veg to last me about 3 days and then hopefully we will have more supplies up this way!

I would hope that they lose alot of business after the events, for being so heartless and money grubbing! I would certainly be taking my business elsewhere. And as for the looters, I hope they get what's coming to them! I don't know how some people can live wth themselves!

Victoria is copping it too now, with one third of the state in the north west underwater and of course WA had the first round of floods...seems the NT, SA and Tassie are still in the clear.

Linda...what goes around comes around...those types of greedy people will get what's coming to them soon enough!

Lesley don't eat too many of those beans...you'll be so gassed up you'll not need a plane for your next trip! :)

Some areas of  Tassie are copping it too, it seems we're getting the tail of what was happening in Q'land. I've never seen this much water were we live! Our drive is a creek and we have a really full dam and water tank (unheard of in January!) And our Bonk frogs have gone ballistic! They have been very quiet for the past ten years......they sure are making up for it now! This makes me very happy, they make me smile and even laugh out loud. We thought that maybe they were disappearing, as frogs are very sensitive to environmental changes, and there has been alot of logging activity in our area.

Our house is designated to be in the 100 year flood zone, but luckily the water didn't come any where near us.  We aren't near the river thankgod, but we are close to storm water drains.
